How long do classroom graduate courses for credit last?

A: All classroom graduate courses for 3 semester hours of credit are taught over two weekends or five consecutive weekdays. Weekend classes meet from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Weekday classes meet from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Q: Where do classroom graduate courses meet?

A: Classroom graduate courses meet at centrally-located facilities, such as at a major hotel or conference center meeting room. Visit the Class Schedules page and click on your state to find the closest location to you.

Q: How long do online graduate courses for credit last?

A: All online graduate courses for 3 semester hours of credit last 13 weeks. Approximately one week prior to the course start date you will receive the course materials along with a login name and password that will grant you access to the entire online course content.

Q: Can TEI's graduate courses be used as class credit with in my Master's degree program?

A: Graduate credit may be transferred into existing graduate programs only with prior approval from your academic advisor.

Q: How long do professional development courses last?

A: A participant seeking professional development credit in a face-to-face class will attend class over 2 weekends or one week. Those seeking professional development credit online will attend class over a 13 week period.

Q: What kind of credit do professional development course participants receive?

A: All professional development course participants receive a Certificate of Completion from TEI for professional development, in-service or continuing education units commensurate with 45 total completed class hours face to face or 60 total completed class hours online. Participants should obtain prior approval from their district to take a course for professional development credit and confirm conversion of the hours to appropriate credit units. TEI is an authorized professional development provider in New Jersey (#661), Texas (#500258) and Pennsylvania (ACT 48). Participants from other states should obtain prior approval from their school district to take a TEI course for professional development units.

Q: I'll be out of town briefly while I am taking an online class. Will that be a problem?

A: One of the benefits of online learning is that you can tailor the schedule to meet your needs. If you are going to be out of town when an assignment is due, you have the option to complete the assignment early or make other arrangements with your instructor.

Q: What happens if I have a question?

A: Each TEI course is taught by a certified teacher who has a master's degree or above. Each instructor is personally involved in your learning and available to answer any questions you may have. Participants may also e-mail TEI or call 1-800-331-2208 to receive assistance.

Q: All online classes recommend using Netscape Communicator or Microsoft Internet Explorer as your web browser application. Can I also use the browser that comes with America Online?

A: If you are using America Online, we recommend using version 5.0 or above. You can download the latest versions of Netscape Communicator, Microsoft Internet Explorer or AOL's software by visiting the appropriate web site for each – Netscape.com; Microsoft.com and AOL.com.

Q: How are graduate courses graded?

A: All graduate course participants receive a letter grade. TEI will forward the letter grade to the appropriate college or university. A transcript request application is included in each TEI registration packet.
